Spin-fluctuation-dominated electrical transport of Ni3Al at high pressure

چکیده
We present the study of a magnetic quantum phase transition in the itinerant-electron ferromagnet Ni3Al at high pressures. Electrical resistivity measurements in a diamond anvil cell at hydrostatic pressures up to 100 kbar and temperatures as low as 50 mK indicate that the Curie temperature collapses towards absolute zero at a critical pressure pc close to 80 kbar. Over wide ranges in pressure and temperature, both in the ferromagnetic and paramagnetic states, the temperature variation of the resistivity is found to deviate from the conventional Fermi-liquid form. We consider the extent to which this deviation can be understood in terms of a mean-field model of enhanced spin fluctuations on the border of ferromagnetism in three dimensions.

We report the NQR study on the pressure-induced paramagnetic state in the antiferromagnetic (AF) intermetallic compound YMn2 with the Néel temperature TN=100 K at ambient pressure. From the T variation of the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate, (1/T1) of Mn above the critical pressure of 4 kbar, the spin fluctuation feature is found to change below a temperature Tsf. At higher temperature tha...

Magneto-transport measurements of ferromagnetic MnAs epilayers grown by molecular beam epitaxy reveal the presence of both positive and negative charge carriers. Electrical transport at high temperatures is dominated by holes, and at low temperatures by electrons. We also observe distinct changes in the magnetoresistance associated with the transition between the electronand hole-dominated tran...

The width and energy of low-index interfacial boundaries (IFBs) in Ni–Ni3Al are calculated using first-principles methods for temperatures ranging from 0 to 1300 K. The low-temperature, coherent and chemically sharp (100), (110) and (111) IFBs are studied using conventional spin-polarized density functional methods. Cluster expansion methods, as implemented in the ATAT software suite, are used ...
